Scale Model Trains

What is a scale model Train good for a 12.5 "by 44" area?
It is in my head. Its going to be a logging train and will through a mountain. I like to be like a 1800 or early 1900.
I would check in HO narrow gauge (if you are highly motivated and practical, then try to narrow gauge N Scale). The secret to a small, narrow is to add a lot of details. Since it is small, may spend much time in making the trees and the details of the construction – interior sawmill shanty side track, hunting cabin, etc.. I make two levels (a re-design) with a sawmill on the lower level. You can start the train – small engine and car 1 or 2 on top, the switch down in the lower level records at the mill site. Stop at the store or hobby library and look over some back issues of Model Train Magazine for more ideas and monitoring plans. I do not think people who say their area is too small. I've had more small designs, living in military barracks.
