how to become a non-profit Model Railroad club?

I've been on the NMRA website and I looked for a branch in Caramel, Indiana, but could not find any branch. So I decided to start my own model railroad organization, there is nothing to compete with the NMRA. 1.) Does anyone have any idea how to apply to become a nonprofit organization. 2.) If anyone wants to join the organization, which says something that confirms that you want to join.

A nonprofit is a corporation, like General Motors, Sears or, or McDonald's. You file incorporation papers with your state of residence of the same way. There must be an official address and place of business, by law, a board of directors, board meetings, and minutes of those meetings. Have required to submit official reports on their financial activities with the state and federal. And you must be an adult to present legal forms. Org Once incorporated, must apply to IRS for tax exempt status. These standards are under section 501 (c) of the IRS code. Most charities are low (c) (3). unions are under c5. There are 31 different categories. Until you do, DO NOT HAVE A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION. You have a hobby. And all money you raise is taxable. And not allowed to solicit money from the public until it has issued a state license application. Violations can lead to strong fines and even imprisonment. Yes, really. "Nonprofit" means that the corporation has no owner and no stock. When the company brings in more money than it spends, the excess is called fund balance, rather than a "benefit" That. balance of funds can be reinvested in the company or held in a savings for future projects or for a rainy day. The board of directors makes those decisions. "Tax exempt" status which means That means that the organization does not pay income tax. The employees of the organization to pay their personal taxes under the same rules as everyone else. And yes, nonprofit profit can and do have employees, like McDonald's. Approximately 10% of the U.S. workforce is employed by nonprofit organizations. People c3 donate money to orgs can deduct from their income taxes if they itemize. donations to other categories – c4, c5, etc. are not deductible. There are thousands of state standards and federal laws that govern the activities, finances, and reporting. For example, c3 orgs can not support political candidates and that there are strict limits to the pressure they can do. That's why unions can endorse candidates and churches can not. C3 and C4 orgs eligible for government grants for their work. They can also request money for charities. But then the bases will come to their offices and tell them they're doing everything wrong and refuse to give them money unless they change what they do. And even then I could not give the money. I hate foundation. There are thousands of organizations are already doing the job you want done. And you are competing for scarce dollars VERY. Finding a good and the volunteer. Take http://serve.gov/ appropriate classes in high school and college. Over time, you can get a paid job with no profit. You can get a degree in nonprofit management.
